Evening Standard | By Marie Winckler | 19th December 2011 WE’RE fed up with hearing that “we’re all in this together”, so next year will be less Big Society, more small-scale sharing. Combined office spaces such as Central Working in Bloomsbury which bring small businesses together in one place will be the norm, and entrepreneur networks like London’s ICE (International Conclave of Entrepreneurs), which facilitate realworld and online meet-ups, will form the model for independent companies to share ideas, people and space. According to economic trend analyst Jean-Yves Huwart of Entreprise Globale, co-working will “shape the coming decade”.
Your lunch break will also be a place of sharing as colunching.com puts you in touch with new people to meet at new restaurants. Expect joint birthday invitations to flood in as people share venues and costs on nights out. And next year easyJet’s Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou launches his carsharing business, The Car Club, where car owners can let out their cars when they are not in use.
As London rents keep increasing, according to HomeLet: “More tenants in the capital and many other parts of the UK are looking to share a property rather than live on their own.” The more the merrier. |
